Yesterday we had our one in a 5 years sail in of Sail. The biggest maritieme manifestation of Europe. In a parade of 12 km big tallships and other interesting vessels sail into the amsterdam harbor from the North Sea to their boarding place were you can visit them until Sunday. As always the parade was opened by the dutch schooner "stad amsterdam".
This year a replica of the "Halve Maen", the ship build around 1606 and used by Henry Hudson for his expedition to North America, was also in the parade.
As was this Swedish giant " the Götheborg ".
Its all handwork so for handeling the sails you need a lot of crew not in possession of fear of heights. Think about this by a blowing gale.
